Snow Time

12/24/09 19:46

At 6:30 AM Monday after the snow storm, I took a one-hour walk around the neighborhood...going down to the lake nearby. Took a few photos of the sparkly snow :)

The rest of the day til 3pm was spent building my giant snow bunny sculpture :) I spent approximately 10 hours on it. Very proud of my giant snow bunny! Wish he could be bigger...maybe next time ; ) I will write more about it later...

Have a wonderful holiday, everyone.

I finally had a chance to sit down and upload photos from the event...and here they are!

Again, thanks to all my wonderful family/friends for their support and everyone for their kind words and encouragement. I look forward to another great year at Artomatic.

Current Projects

I'm working on creating a few new watercolor pieces. I got a new watercolor paint set for Christmas and am very excited to use it :D I also have a few photography project ideas lined up that I'm looking forward to do...and also have a few sewing projects in mind and also am trying to get back to my piano-playing and continue teaching myself how to play the guitar. :p

Hmm..in other news, I am enjoying this little snow storm we're having--Minus the bad driving conditions on the roads for everyone and some plans getting canceled. I took this picture around 3 AM when we had about 6 inches. We're now onto about 10 inches by now (it's 7 AM)...And I heard the snow is going to be even heavier tomorrow. We're expecting 15+ inches

The snow looks beautiful :) Can't wait to trudge around in it tomorrow when I shovel
(and possibly attempt at making a snowman) :p

I'm going to Vietnam in January to visit my grandparents! I can't wait to see them again. It'll be very busy before then, so most of my projects will probably have to wait until I get back. I will probably bring my "nicer" camera this time so I can take some good photos of my visit. My stay will be for two weeks at my grandpa's sister's temple in Hoc Mong, not too far from Saigon.

Last, but not least...my wonderful friend, Sheela recently went to China to teach. It's something she's been wanting to do for a while, so I'm very happy for her. Before she left, she showed me some of her artwork and gave me some very sweet and thoughtful gifts, some from her trip to India.

sheela

One of her gifts was a sari, which I attempted to try on first thing when I got home. I promised her I would take a picture for her once I figured out how to wear it correctly :p And here it is!

sari

Best of luck to you, Sheela! I hope you enjoy your experience in China :D You are missed.

The Running Shoot

08/25/09 08:02

"How many takes did it take?"

"A lot" was my usual answer. 22 shots to be exact. In one shot, my arms would look awkward; and in another shot, Monika would look like she's running after me, trying to catch me. It felt like we took more than 22 shots, though. Regardless, this shoot was fun. All the photos were taken at Bull Run Park, Manassas...one of my favorite spots to go to in the Fall and Winter around this area. In this particular shoot, we're running, searching for the giant rabbit.

There was a lot of sweating and running back and forth between camera and grass. What I learned was that I should probably invest in a wireless shutter cable :p

Afterward, we decided to have a little fun and took some silly photos :D

Artomatic Month

06/27/09 02:10

Artomatic 2009.

This is my first year participating in this event–or actually any major art exhibition event. I got to meet a lot of great artists and designers. Setting up and getting ready for the show was very hectic...since, I'm such a procrastinator and on top of that, am a slow/detail-picky worker :p Thanks to Arthur and Justin who did a great part in helping me put up lights and paint my wall. Also thanks to all my friends who came out to see me or my work! It means a lot.
